YouTube introduces mini-player for desktop browsers

For the YouTube lovers who like streaming YouTube videos, you can now watch videos using picture-in-picture mini player mode through the web browser.

The mini player mode was announced few months back and got released earlier this month, and it allows people to continue playing video they’re currently streaming while searching for another one. This feature is similar to Facebook video player, which minimize and next to the news feed while you keep scrolling down on the page.

The YouTube mini player is live so all you need to do to use it is visit YouTube and pick a video to play. Once the video is playing, look at the controls bar on the media player.

There’s a new player size between the gear icon and the theater mode icon which lets you enable the YouTube mini player. Simply click on this icon and the video will be minimized to the bottom right of your screen.

You can exit out of the mini-player by hitting the “x” or escape keys on your keyboards. You can also control playlists, queues, and next videos directly through the minimized video.
